Nicholas Brendon Audioblog Update April 13, 2011

Posted April 13, 2011 | 17 Comments

Helloooo, guys. How are you?

Nicholas Brendon here. I am calling for a few reasons. Because I had promised that I would blog more. And I’ve, uh, lied in that respect. And also I’ve just been kind of going through a weird time in my life. My girlfriend’s mom passed away about 10 days ago, and Jacqui’s got you know, cancer that she’s fighting very well, so I haven’t really been in, you know, like a funny, funny, funny mood. Which is what I love to give you guys. I am going to give you some information, and then start being funny a little bit more. Because comedy comes from tragedy.

So, apparently My Neighbor’s Secret has been on a lot, and I’ve been playing the bad guy on it. And apparently, Private Practice wants to nominate me for an Emmy for my playing a rapist. Which, you know, people always ask, “Hey man, what was that like, you know? How did you prepare?” And I will say, “I raped a bunch of people. Typically, under the age of 17.” J-o-o-o-ke. In case FBI’s listening.

And, so I’m going to be in Anaheim, with my twin brother, Kelly, from April 29-May 1. And then, we haven’t had a meet and greet in a while, because of Jacqui’s cancer. And she is getting better. And if you guys can, you know, send her messages and love, that would be amazing. But we’re gonna do a karaoke event on Saturday, June 18, in Philly. Tickets are $100 and there are 30 left. Which means that we’ve sold 12. And if we sell more, then, whatever. We’ll pack the room. But it’ll be a five- or six-hour event [Editor's note: Three. From 7:30-10:30 p.m.]. And I will sing with anybody who wants to sing with me.

I’m also doing the last episode of Criminal Minds [Editor's note: For the season, don't panic.], which I’m really excited about. Which I do next week. Steven, my dog, is doing very well. He’s sitting to the left of me — or camera right, if you’re an actor. And I just want to thank you guys, for anybody who sent me birthday wishes on the old twat machine [Editor's note: His name for Twitter.]

I love you guys a lot, you know, and I’m just kinda going through a smallish hard time. And I do promise to write more poetry, and to make you guys laugh. Because that’s what I do. Right now, I’m taking care of my girl. And it was a sudden death with her mom, so it’s kind of, you know, just a lot of love and support. And with Jacqui, she’s actually doing really, really, really well. So that’s it. I’m in Anaheim with Kelly on the 29th of April to the first of May. And then, June 18th, I’m there, there aren’t dates here, for that weekend, but we have the karaoke event. Which I did once before, in Austin. And it was awesome.

So I will actually republish tomorrow. Not being so maudlin … or mood-lin. I’ll be more sardonic. More ironic. And more some other words that mean that. You guys are great. I love you. Come to Anaheim. Buy tickets to the Philly event, the karaoke event. It’s going to be a kick-ass time. And I’ll call you guys tomorrow. And I will offend you and make you guys laugh.

All right?

Take care. Bye.

Thank you so much for the audio blog. Very sorry to hear about your girlfriends mum. Let her know that a lot of us are thinking about her in the sad time in her life.

Jacqui, I only recently signed up so I had no idea what you were going through. I’m so glad to hear that you are doing so well. You’re in my thoughts and prayers.

Love you both, and I’m sure all you’re fans would agree that you can take all the time you need to focus on the important things in your life right now and blog more when you’re ready.

Take care and all the best :)

Hey Nick!! We (your fans) understand and please don’t feel you have to rush back into anything. Family is important they need you! I have liked you as an actor for a long time but I could not respect you more as a person for everything you are going through and how you are there for your friends and family members! I am happy you are back but there is no need to apologize for anything! Your fans are here for you through the good the bad and the ugly! Tell your girlfriend that I am so sorry for her (and your loss). I am happy to her Jacqui is doing better and I will keep both in my prayers!
    Much love,
    Charity
A fan now more then ever!!

  6. Lidia says:

Nicky, it breaks my heart to hear you so sad!

Please know you don’t have to be “ON” all the time! You are human same as the rest of us, and you have feelings that run deep. True, we love our happy, energetic and sometimes devilish Nicky…..but your true fans who love and care about you will understand your heart right now, and shall support you every step of the way!

My sincerest condolences go out to your special someone and to her family on their great loss! I shall pray for them and for the soul of the departed with the same fervor I pray for Jacqui, for you, and yours!

You and your special someone should consider yourselves lucky God brought you two together so you could help her through this great loss! Your strength, your love, and your understanding shall be the pillars on which she shall rebuild her strength and her heart!

This is a time of grief, reflection, and promise…… promise never to allow another second go by without loving someone and without being loved in return! Life is much too short and fleeting!

I lost my father at a very young age, and I know well the grief caused by such an event! Prayer is a very powerful force, and it shall get you both through this, I promise!

Should your special someone lash out or act in a manner unbecoming to her person, please don’t take it to heart, but know it is her grief and not she herself acting this way! If you have opened your heart to her, I am certain she is worthy of such an honor……please be there for her, show your complete support, and she shall love you all the more for it!

As far as our Miss Jacqui, please don’t worry so……she is a fighter, and a tough cookie, that one! Her oncologist is “tickled” with her progress……she SHALL beat this thing, and with your love, friendship and support get through this an even stronger person! Jacqui is ALWAYS in our prayers!

Nicky, don’t ever feel the need to apologize for being human! You have “been there” for your fans in many different ways, and now we shall be there for you!

May our Lord bless you all, and keep you in His care now and always!

    With deepest respect,
    Lidia

Death has a way of putting things in perspective. I’m sorry about your girl’s mom. It’s been a rough few months with everything going on, but weathering times like these makes the good times sweeter in the end. And you do learn to laugh through it because otherwise, what’s the point?

Still though, you’re not a clown and don’t feel you have to be. Sure, you’re funny as hell and everyone loves to laugh with you, but most people are tuning in to these things because they like you however they can get you. Maudlin, nasty, funny or goofy. Just be you, Nicky. You’re the only one who can.

Also, HOLY FUCKING SHIT EMMY, that’s awesome. I hope you get that nomination. And you should. No one rapes like you do.

And speaking of rape, I’m really looking forward to getting my ears fucked with some Manilow in Philly. I may retaliate with white girl rapping. I’m working it out.

Write more poetry. You’re good at it.

  8. Louisa Mendels says:

I am so very sorry to learn of the loss of your girlfriend’s Mother. Your girlfriend is most fortunate to have you standing by her at this profoundly difficult time. Grieving is hard labour and it is slow. Take all the time that BOTH of you need. Neither one of you HAS to be cheerful or entertaining right now. Mr. Brendon, you have given us (your fans) an enormous amount, now it is time for us to give YOU all the time you need with no pressure. We will still be here when life has resumed a more normal feeling.
I was very pleased to hear that Jacqui is doing so well. She is a strong and courageous lady and it has been a pleasure seeing her at the Meet and Greets that I have been privileged to attend. Of course all good thoughts and prayers go out to her, always.

  9. hawera says:

Watching someone else’s grief can be difficult in its own way because you feel so helpless to make things better. Condolences to your girlfriend.

And, of course, all good wishes to Jacqui who has seemed to deal with her health problems with great courage.

  10. LGB says:

I am so sorry to hear about your girlfriends dad, it’s always a tragedy when someone dear is lost and really there’s little more that could be said about that other than to send on condolences.

Jacqui, you’re an amazing woman and the way you’re handling the cancer makes you even more amazing, it seems nothing can stop you and that’s a compliment (I hope it sounds like it)

Now for the good stuff. If the people at Private practice need encouragement, give me one second… NOMINATE NICK FOR THE EMMY!!!!!… there, I tried. Seriously you deserve at least a nomination, in fact you deserve the win for that wonderful performance and I hope that you do win.

And it’s so good to hear you’re back on Criminal Minds, I still say they should have made Kevin the tech guy for the spin-off series, but what do I know? Still can’t wait to see that episode.

I hope things start looking up for you both, take all the time you need and remember that we’re all hoping that things get better for you and your girlfriend (Who PS, is officially the luckiest woman alive because she’s fortunate enough to have you to support her)

  11. sylvie says:

    Hi Nicky,
Firstly, my condolences to your girlfriend.
All your fans understand that you can not always come on the audioblog. We’re here to support you in your misfortunes as in your happiness. you’re a human being with feelings like us and you have the right not to be perfect or simplement sad. So, do not force yourself to be fun when you’re sad for us because we love you and we respect you for the man you are.
For the Emmy award you deserve to nominated and to win, you’re an excellent actor.
Jacqui is a strong woman and she has our support.( Jacqui knows).

Thank you for sharing your joys and your sorrows.

    All my love, gros bisous
    Sylvie

See you soon at Vampire Ball. Take care.

  12. JoAnne says:

Thanks for blogging, audio and in text — awesome! And major congrats on the Emmy possibilities :) which is most definitely deserved, you totally gave me the creeps in that role. Love to Jacqui, hope she has a speedy, and full, recovery xx

  13. TJ says:

Hiya. It’s a hard thing to go through and process when someone goes. I hope your girlfriend is, well, ok-such a trite term-but… I hope you are ok as well. Remember to talk to each other, obviously. It helps. Jacqui is a source of amazing strength to us all, kicking ass and all. You deserve the Emmy, dude. Thanks for blogging, we missed you. Hope to see you in Philly-I’m working n it.

  14. Zarro says:

Hi, Dude. I am a fan, of course, but I think I remember you on the CBS lot in 1993. I worked as a “Vault” keeper for the post house Complete Post on Sunset Blvd. I picked up the “Dave’s World” reels and log them in at Complete Post. So my question is: “Where you ever a Production Assistant on the CBS lot and do you recommend that career.”

  16. Barbara says:

Well I didn’t know that you had a blog, or I would have been reading it a long time ago.
I am a fan, and I will follow you where ever you go. Did that sound creepy? I will follow your acting career, from afar. I love how you become the character. I watched every episode of Buffy. And Criminal Minds got a new viewer when I saw that you were going to be in it. I hope that things become sunny for you and yours. Just keep on being supportive, just as you have been. Looking forward to your next blog.

  17. lorna says:

I know you posted a long time ago, but hopefully you’ll see this comment. So sorry for you and your gal’s loss. My grandma passed away a few mths ago, death is always hard. I will send out a prayer for miss J, she does such a wonderful job. I hope things are doing better, and you should’ve won an Emmy LONG ago for Buffy work. I’ve met you twice in Cleve. OH, and plan to again someday. Take care N!!
