Nicholas Brendon Audioblog Update, May 24, 2010

Helloooo, everybody. What’s up, my bitches?

This is Nicky B. calling, long overdue. But I’m really trying to work on this. Y’know, I promise, and I promise, and I promise – maybe this is why my relationships don’t work out.

Anyway, I’m sitting here in Venice, California, with Steve to my left. The computer on my lap. Got some roses in a vase that I got at the farmer’s market on Friday – can’t tell you how much I love red roses. And I’m just calling to check in and say, “Hello!” I don’t think I’ve done this for a while.

Oh, shoot. You know what I’m reading right now? The Complete Sherlock Holmes Works, by that Conan Doyle guy. Think he’s onto something. Somebody should knight him. ‘Cause I’m gonna call him sir. “Hello, sir. Good book, sir. Wow, sir, I enjoy those characters.”

So, what do I have going on right now? First of all, with the recent shenanigans: Everything’s going well on that end. So, anybody who had any questions or anything about that, everything is going remarkably well. So, yay me! And yay you!

I got done doing that play in March, and I had a great meet and greet at Mel’s, which the lovely Jacqui helped to organize. And I think we’re going to be doing more, ‘cause it was just a lot of, a lot of fun. It’s just so nice. I mean, and who doesn’t love Mel’s Diner? If you guys don’t know what it is, it’s a hamburger joint.

And then, in terms of other stuff: I’ve got this show that I’m creating, called Very Bad Koalas, with Steve Loter. And, so we’re just kind of – that should hopefully be out – we’re hoping to get that out, it’s going to be kind of like an online comic for the first 52. We’re going to do, like, one a week, and I think it is a rip-roaring good time.

And I’m going to be in Toronto and Paris. Think Paris, I’m going to be in … in August? The end of August. And then Toronto, I think October.

What’s going on with you guys? Woah, woah, woah, not all at once. OK, hold on, you in the back. Oh. Really? You’re hardly even showing. You’re glowing – your skin’s glowing. That’s great. All right. You, you, over to the left. Mmmm-hmmm. No, your other left; my right. Yep, you. Mmm.. I’m more of a Coke guy – Coca-Cola. Yeah, it’s not really a Pepsi generation in my household. Yeah, thanks for the question. Yeah, you in the front row. Mmmm-hmmm. Yeah, I’ve never, um, never played cricket. But I’ve killed a few in my day! I’m joking; I haven’t killed anything.

Speaking of killing things – I love documentaries. And, some would call me a documentary whore. I don’t fuck them – I just like to watch them. OK, one I made love to, but I don’t want to talk about that right now. But I got one called Long Knives Night, and maybe some of you out there have seen that. It’s Russian. I had to stop watching it in the beginning of this documentary. They literally take a live dog – it looked like a Labrador of some sort – they crucify him and then they burn him alive, these Satan worshippers. And I was sooo pissed. Steve was watching it with me, and so I took this back to the video store that I go to. And I let them know that there is this horrible scene – and they didn’t even know. And they’re now putting a warning label on that DVD.

I love red roses, too, Nick! Want to send me some? LOL
Nick, I’m so glad everything is going well!! YAY!!! :) Glad to see your sense of humor isn’t gone. ;)
You should do a documentary on your life. :) That would be awesome! That documentary you are talking about sounds insanely horrific to watch. :(

So glad to hear an update! And YES! Sherlock Holmes is love!

I’m happy to hear everything is going well, keep up the awesome good work!

    Also, excited for the comic.

Coke for the win! And Cricket? You’re really not missing much. It’s pretty boring.

That documentary sounds horrible. That poor dog.

I can’t wait to hear another update and hope things keep going well for you!

Are these living room Q&A sessions going to become a regular thing? And if so, do you want us to take our shoes off at the door?

Nicky! Doyle will never be knighted. Wtf, that movie sounds terrible. By the way, coffee…the new/old Coke if you hate fizz. Will you ever visit New York? Holy crap, that smacks of begging.

Regarding his mention of more meet and greets, I’m considering New England. Any interest?

    Yay everyone! :D

Nothing wrong with being a documentary whore, although I have yet to make love to one. If you want a really intense documentary that’s not as disturbing as the Russian one, rent Waltz With Bashir. It’s about the recollections of a filmmaker looking back on his experiences during the First Lebanon War. Very well-done.

Great to hear from you, sir! Thanks for such a great time in Ohio, sorry you came to Ohio as it sucks, but it was great none the less! The Meet and Greet in Columbus was fabulous.

Can’t wait to see more of you in the future!

Having Nicholas in New Jersey would certainly make this state a little less boring and dreadful, I must say.

I HEART Sherlock Holmes and have since I was a kid. I have to unabridged books with all Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s works – one leather bound with original illustrations for special occasions reading and the other a hardback for tossing-around-the-house reading.

Did you know that there are whole academic disciplines dedicated to the study of Sherlock Holmes? College courses and everything! My most recent lust: The New Annotated Sherlock Holmes: The Novels and The New Annotated Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Short Stories. Cuz, really, I can not be more of a geek! :-)

Glad to hear things are doing well. I’m re-watching Buffy on Netflix and am, again, very much enjoying your performances.

    Best of luck to you!

And, for what it’s worth, congrats on moving into SOBA. Support, support, support is the key to recovery. If I can do it, I’m sure you can too. :-)

Hartford CT, between 22 and 30 June.

Or LA, between 16-18 June (there’ll be a lot of James Marsters fans in LA then who could be tempted to desert Spike for one evening).

  21. jacqui said,

    May 25, 2010 at 3:07 am

Unfortunately, I think it’s probably too late to really throw something together for June 16-18, right? Unless, are there are a lot of James fans who’d be interested?

jacqui what about a meet and greet in europe.

didn´t get any response from the hallowhedoners for my group and my petition, not nice…..

vienna is beautyful and would be also good for the fans from east-europe and germany… you could do it after paris.

    Hi Nick,

Red roses? You are such a girl.
Thanks for blogging. It’s great to hear from you :)

That documentary sounds TERRIBLE. Glad you made them put a warning on it.

You should come to the Oklahoma/Texas area sometime. I almost drove to Texas once to be an extra in that indie film you were in a few years ago. Wish I had. Oh well, maybe I’ll get a chance to see you in person one of these days.

    Take care of yourself! :)
    *hugs*

Nicky, glad to hear everything’s going well…still up for the wedding right? if you’re in Paris in August, last day of August it wouldn’t be far to come to Greece! *winks* we’d love to have ya! Jolly good time it would be. Also, as mentioned, that Sherlock museum is fun, I have a stuffed beanie Sherlock bear from there, that my bf bought me when we first got together :D
