Nicholas Brendon audioblog update Nov. 20, 2008 Part II
Hi, it’s me, again. The machine cut me off. So I’m back. We’ll beat this machine! We will beat this machine. That sounds a little, um, graphic. That sounds kind of almost pornographic: Beat your machine, man! What are you doing in there? Beating your machine? Get out, give some of us a chance!
Anyway, I forgot. Oh, the Slumdog Millionaire. Yeah, good stuff. And then I saw a movie called Changeling
, which I also very much enjoyed.
But yeah. So, I’m writing a lot right now. And I’m actually, kind of just about done fleshing out a project. And I’m actually using vampires in it. Because I’m melding two genres together. I’ve already given you one of the genres. I’m not going to give you the second genre, not till it’s done. Ah, ah, ahh-hhh. Hard as you might beg, I cannot do it. It’s for your own good. I would have to kill you all. And I’m not a violent person; I’m a lover, not a fighter.
I’ve got another episode of Criminal Minds that is “in the can,” as they say. And, again, sorry it’s taken so long to blog and publish: I’m a jackhole sometimes. Sometimes I’m a grade-a jackhole. So that’s all I can say. Please accept my most humblest of apologies. Love to you all, from beautiful, sunny – burny – Southern California. It likes to burn a lot down here. We’re actually fire free today, have no fires today. But it was bad last week.
And, I miss you all very much, those of you who I’ve met. Those of you who I haven’t met: Get off your asses already, and come over and meet me! All right, I will talk to you soon, when there’s more stuff to report. Again, I’ll say sooner rather than later, but would it be a blog if Nicky didn’t say “sooner rather than later”?
Take care everybody! Hope you’re well. Bye. Lemme see. Now I gotta figure out how to end this. Let me see here. I think I hit 3. I’m going to hit 3 now. I’m going to hit 3! I’m going to do it! 3.

Hey Nick!
Thank you so much for updating your blog, man. Really made my day…week…yeah, definitely week. Been a very long, trying week, so thank you.
O-K, anyway.
Thank you! Finally someone agrees with me that the ending to A Prayer for Owen Meany was cheesy! Everyone I’ve talked to said they loved it and I just couldn’t stand it! The book was still really good (as was the movie based off it), but I agree John was a real pain in the ass (not so much in the movie, though.) Only one person can make being 40 and still a virgin funny, and that’s Steve Carell, not John. So, thank you. Now I’ve got someone on my side.
Very intrigued on this new show you’re doing: The Quincy Rose Show. It would be great to be able to see it online (good point about the complete creative control). Maybe you could tell us a little more about it?
(I think I commented before on this, but great job on Criminal Minds! Kevin and Garcia are the best.)
I think that’s really awesome that you write (and espcially involving vampires into your stories.) Hope we’ll be able to see some of your writings someday…sooner rather than later. (I know, that’s your thing.)
Anyway, just wanted to thank you for updating your blog…bloooog. Right. Hope things continue to go well for you and, y’know…not all burn-y, ’cause that would be bad. Yeah.
Take care and hope to hear from you again soon!
P.S: The Dodgers. Man, I was really pulling for them (even though they beat my Cubs -we just couldn’t get things together in the play offs.) I’m still mad the Phillies won the World Series.

You are so cool, man. I love it when you update your blog.
The Quincy Rose Show sounds intriguing. I would enjoy to be knowing more. About it. Obviously. Personally, I think you should try to shop to networks, but it would be awesome to do on the internet. But YouTube is sucky. I dunno. Anyway, sounds awesome.

Nick,
I love when you update your blooog. You always make me laugh, no matter what kind of mood I am in. Loved the “Someone blogged in aisle 3!” I love to write Buffy/Angel fanfiction and I read it all the time….that would be a good line for someone to use in one of their fics. Is it copyrighted? *grins*
Anyway, I agree with the person who said you need to get Criminal Minds to give Kevin more air time. Actually, I liked the episodes you were in, but I don’t really watch it unless I have heard you are going to be on it. So tell them that we Nick Brendon fans (which are many) only watch when you have some air time. And I have to agree that everyone wants to put you in the most awful shirts! What’s up with that? I think I know. Like Joss said on …I’m thinking it was the first season DVD of Buffy, something about “Nick doesn’t look like a geek so we make him wear those clothes” . I guess that’s the way everyone who cast you as a supposed geek or nerd feels. You are just cursed to wear bad clothes because you are so damn hot!
I can’t wait to see “The Quincy Rose Show”. I don’t care if it’s on television or the internet, I will make sure to watch it!
Happy Thanksgiving and Christmas if you don’t blog again before then! Hope you and your family have a great one and that you get whatever it is you are wanting this year. I’ve already put in my order with my family. They have to buy me every movie that you have been in….especially “Unholy” which I haven’t seen yet. Also, I’ve watched my Buffy series so much that I need a new season three, four and five. What can I say? I love you anyway, but I love the longer hair best!
Happy holidays to you and yours!

Nick: I am a newbie here. Although I was aware of Buffy, I hadn’t seen any of the show until a couple of months ago. Wow. I sure missed out on a good show. From reading the previous entries in your blog, it seems you really enjoyed the show and the friendships. I haven’t finished the series yet, but I sure enjoy your character. I really like how Xander matured and grew, but kept his good-natured attitude.
Criminal Minds was great! Hope you have a chance to do more. I look forward to hearing more about your new project. Thanks a lot for your updates and insights.
Take care,
Barry

Nick,
Oops. I didn’t know you posted again after you cut off. I thought you were finished. I’m very excited to hear that you’re writing, and I can’t wait for that project to come to fruition. I’m also excited to know that you have more Criminal Minds coming up. Yah! I hope your part is a tad longer, but I’ll take what I can get. I’m glad the fires haven’t touched you, but I’m very sad for the people it has. I miss you to, and I’m going to have to figure a way to go to one of your plays or your appearances next time. It really has been too long.
Take care!

Hey Nicky,
It’s so good to hear from you again. I really enjoy your blogs. And, I’m sorry that I didn’t reply to this sooner but I hurt my hand last week and my ability to type got pretty nil there for awhile. I really enjoyed seeing you on Criminal Minds and I’m glad to hear that you will be doing another episode. I’d love it if they would make Kevin a more permanent character on the show.
It sounds like you have been very busy lately. A part owner of a bookstore, Wow! How are you enjoying being an entrepeneur? Does your bookstore have a website? Do ya’ll sell new books, used books, or new and used books? I’d love to hear more about that.
I’m excited to hear that you are writing alot and I cannot wait until you can share the details of your project with us. Vampires in it huh? It sounds very interesting. Right now, I’m writing a story that is a romantic comedy. Also, I’m curious, is this project you’re writing something that you may eventually act in? Or, is it something that you might want to get published as a book?
The Quincy Rose Show sounds very interesting and I’d love to see it. I like the idea of seeing it online because as you said, it would give you greater creative control with the project and so much is going online these days. But then again, if a network got ahold of it everyone watching tv on that certain channel will see it. And not everybody will watch a show on computer so you might get those people watching it through tv that you wouldn’t get through online. So, I really don’t know. As long as I can get to see the show it doesn’t really matter to me one way or the other, just whatever ya’ll prefer.
I hear that ya’ll are forcasted to get alot of rain this week. I hope that there won’t be any bad flooding or mudslides. I was so sorry to hear about all the fires out there. I hope that you and your family have a safe, dry, and a Happy Thanksgiving.
Hugs,
Ruth

I thing is it certainly great to be a co-owner of a bookstore. there is always something to read.
I come from Germany, so it is not so easy to come to LA. so much to: “Get off your asses already, and come over and meet me!”
for instance you before Christmas and New Year are not blogs, I wish you a happy and healthy Christmas and a happy new year.
I hope my English is not too bad and you can understand it … I can understand English better, than to write… :/

Hi Nick:
I have to say I think you are very funny and I would love to see a comedy done by yourself. Total creative control would be ideal and the fact you will be playing yourself would also add to the hilarity. I don’t mean that how it sounds
Remember I love Pinata, Ole!

Nick,
You’re definitely not a jackhole, just busy.. It’s not like you HAVE to do these blogs, but you do them for the fans. So even if it takes a while, it’s still awesome ;]
Thanks for the update
I’m so happy to hear about the pilot.. Seeing you playing yourself would probably be hilarious, since as we can hear in your audioblogs, you are a very funny and outgoing person (god, I sound like a real kiss-ass right? lol. well, it’s just really what I think
).
I don’t really care if it will be a series or an internet-series, it sounds great either way. Internet shows, and especially ones that have a connection to Joss Whedon in some way (Either directly, or just by having an actor from the Jossverse in them), seem to be going well.. Just look at Dr. Horrible, or The guild.
I’m also very exited they keep bringing you back on Criminal minds.. They should make you a regular. You and Kirstin have great on-screen chemistry.
I wish I could “get off my ass” and come meet you, but I live in Isreal, so that’s a bit of a problem ;P
Some day, I hope..
Hope to hear from you soon and good luck with your pilot and your writing,
Michal.

Hello Nicholas Brendon!
I feel weird just saying, Nick, or Nicki, or Nicholas.. Like we hang out and eat ice cream while exchanging pleasantries of goodness. Which we do not. As I do not know you personally. And you know that. And … now.. everyone else knows that… so… moving on.
I was excited to see you have a blog! I’ve been following you for a little while, a big fan of your work, and you just seem like a pretty damn fun guy. So, this is me, saying whats up Nicholas Brendon! How’s it hanging? Wanna hang out and eat ice cream and exchange pleasantries? Probably not! But that’s okay. Because you might be reading this so that’s enough for me. You’re basically my idle, as I’m starting to pursue my own acting career so, wish me luck. Maybe we’ll work together sometime. Drop me a line anytime.

Hi Nick, this is my first time on your site and i just want to tell you how much you work means to me. Okay first of all, i love Buffy the Vampire slayer. I love your acting and wish you all the best on that, an i want to let you know that Buffy is really famous still in New Zealand which is were i live. Okay anyway down to the point of me thanking you from the bottom of my heart. I have lived with a severe speech impairment. I used to be so embarrassed to even talk in school and even at home. Kids at school didn’t talk to me because they thought i was weird because i never spoke. But thanks to you and seeing how you managed to get to were you are today, i stopped being afraid. I had always wanted to act but thought how can i act if i can’t talk, but i did it anyway. I started drama in my first year of high school, and everyone laughed when i said each word 3 times but i didn’t care. Because that is what i wanted to do. Now i am in my 3rd year in high school ( i’m 15. i think it is different from schooling over where you are ) and i’m still doing drama. My teachers have noticed a difference in me, i even did my class speech this year. My mum ( mom ) is so proud of me. I even auditioned for a part in a play. Sadly i didn’t get it, but i’m not giving up. So i want to thank you. So much really, my prayers are with you. Oh no i’m gonna cry heehee. Anyway, thanks so much. i just hope you read this. Thank you.

Nicky Brendon,
Just sitting here brain smashed from from first year law school midterm study and found your audio blog a refreshing change of pace as always. Loving the idea of the “melding” of two genres. You have done so well in the one that you mentioned so why not assume the other will follow suit? I do not envy you sitting your traffic forum for blogging…last time I was in LA, it took me 4 hours to get from Venice Beach to west Hollywood. Maybe that was more an issue of me being lost…
Keep up the blogging…if you haven’t noticed, we are all paying attention:). And, what is this “get off your asses and come out and meet me” shenanigans? There is a place for us stranger fans to come out and meet you that isn’t some once a year Buffy Comic Con type deal? (although I would LOVE to go to one of those). Since I never assume returned correspondence from you celebrity types:), I will just say keep up being the best of them, NEVER go back to waiting tables (I did it for 6 years) and thanks for showing reminding me that there is still talent and integrity in Hollywood.

Hi,
I just found your blog, I am a bit slow. I do keep searching the internet to try and find what projects you are doing and if there is a chance to see you acting again. I missed the Criminal Minds thing-I was in california for awhile. San Diego actually-what is up with the fear of rain there or the warning for 1mph wind gusts? Then the people I was visiting were all concerned that their kids had their winter gear purchased? Is it an alternate universe there? I did find out that me walking around in a t-shirt made me stick out as an out of towner. When the first person commented, I finally looked around and saw that people were wearing jackets, sweaters and shivering. It was over 60 degrees out, I was warm. As Buffy would say, “he comes from Iowa, one of those places in the middle”. Is it true that New yorkers think there is New York then you take a plane to LA and you just cross a couple mountains. But there are no other cities or states in between?

I don’t know if television will like your project or not, and it would be a good thing if they do…cause I guess it means more money… But the internet way is way better… since you can do what you want and…since i’m in France and I won’t be able to see your show if it’s on TV!
Your blog is pretty cool … but this answering machine is driving you a little bit mad, ain’t it? Don’t beat it too hard though!

Hey Nick! I’ve followed some of your blog now, and wanted to actually leave a message. I’ve been a fan of you since Buffy first aired way back when (i know, it was a long time ago, and we won’t talk about it, or how old we are getting… ok im not that old but i thought saying “we” would make you feel better). Xander Harris, greatest character ever, and all thanks to you for portraying him.
Anywho, I’ve missed Criminal Minds. “what? you’re no fan!” you say? Well you know, throw me into a fiery hell (as opposed to, you know, the non-fiery ones). I’m sorry! I will try to see if i can find it in youtube.
Wishing you the best… and think you should come hang out in NYC sometime. Specifically in Queens. Specifically at my house. I dunno. Just a suggestion… I’m just sayin’….
Best wishes!

Hi, I just wanted to thank you for deciding to become an actor. My husband and I started watching Buffy when we first started dating in high school and he just bought me the whole series as well as Kitchen Confidential for our nine year wedding anniversary. He is in the army now and just left for Iraq so I was crushingly depressed, but I listened to your audioblog and feel somewhat better. I liked all of the actors on Buffy but you were always my and my husbands favorite, you have a comidic timing that can’t be duplicated. I hope to see you in a lot more things to come, have a stellar day.
